What this section covers

A Texas field number is an eight-digit key that appears on permits, completions, production reports and severance-tax filings — and nowhere on any of them is the field's name spelled out. The Field Name & Numbers file is the lookup that makes the rest of the catalog readable.

The rest of this section describes what the Commission has decided about each field: spacing and density rules, allocation formulas, discovery dates, and the annual oil and gas report tables that roll production up to field level.
