Drilling Permit (W-1) Imaged Files
Original only PDF / TIFF
Scanned W-1 permit forms and the plats filed with them.
Get the data
Free. You will be asked to confirm an email address before the files are built — that is the only gate, and it is there so we can tell you when a large export is ready.
What this is
The paperwork itself: scanned images of the Form W-1 applications and the survey plats attached to them, published nightly as PDFs.
This is where the information that never made it into a structured field lives — the hand-drawn plat, the operator's remarks, the signature blocks.
What you can do with it
Read the original filing when the structured record is ambiguous, and recover the plat geometry for a well whose coordinates look wrong.
Gotchas
These are images. There is no text layer to search and no record layout — everything useful in them has to be read by a person or run through OCR.
There will be no decoded version of this. It is not a file format waiting for a reader -- it is pictures of paper, and the only ways to get fields out of it are a person reading them or an OCR pass whose output would be guesses this site will not present as data. What EZRRC adds here is the mirror itself: the Commission's own images, addressable and durable.
Record layout

We have not transcribed the record layout for this dataset yet. The RRC manual linked under “Where this comes from” is the authoritative description in the meantime.
